Swedish public is pro-nuclear

A poll was conducted in April 2003 on a thousand Swedish citizens of 16 years of age and above.

 

Results :

- 50% of the persons questioned want the existing nuclear reactors to continue to operate as long as they meet the safety standards

- 19% more consider that existing nuclear reactors sould at the end of their service life be replaced by new nuclear reactors.

- another 12% are in favor of building additional new nuclear reactors.

 

Overall, 79% of the citizens questioned are in favor of continuing to operate nuclear energy in Sweden, only 19% do not agree to do so.
